The Italy-Spain Route Along the Mediterranean Corridor

Spain is a large country: from central Italy to Madrid it is roughly 1,800 km by road. The pallet travels entirely by truck along the Mediterranean Corridor, through southern France (Provence, Languedoc, Roussillon), and crosses into Spain via Catalonia. Delivery typically takes 10 working days. Longer than Germany or France, but on a well-established and predictable route.

Barcelona is the main entry point from Italy: from Catalonia the distribution branches out to the rest of the country, with dense logistics zones around El Prat Airport and in towns like Subirats, Rubí and Molins de Rei. Madrid is Spain's largest consumer market and the national distribution hub. Valencia serves the south-eastern Mediterranean, the furniture and ceramics industry and the agri-export sector. Zaragoza is the intermodal node between Madrid and Barcelona. Bilbao serves the industrial north (Basque Country), Seville covers Andalusia.

The Europacco pallet service covers mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, with a dedicated price list for the islands. The Canary Islands are not served.

Italy and Spain are both in the European Union: no duties, no customs declaration. The transport document (DDT) you receive after payment is sufficient.

Who Ships Pallets from Italy to Spain

Spain is the third EU market for Italian pallet exports, and the flows follow clear industry patterns. The most common cases:

Fashion and textiles from the Lombardy-Veneto cluster to Madrid and Barcelona

Italian fashion (apparel, accessories, fabrics, footwear, leather goods) is one of the most sought-after Italian sectors in Spain. Brands and manufacturers from Lombardy (Milan), Veneto (Riviera del Brenta for footwear), Tuscany and Le Marche ship pallets to showrooms, boutiques and distribution centres in Madrid and Barcelona. Volumes peak around season changeovers (February-March, August-September).

Machinery, packaging and machine tools for Spanish industry

The Emilia-Romagna Packaging Valley (Bologna-Modena-Parma) and the Lombard machinery cluster supply Spanish plants with packaging lines, moulds, spare parts and equipment. Typical recipients: automotive clusters (Seat-Volkswagen in Martorell, Stellantis in Vigo and Madrid, Renault in Valladolid) and the food and pharmaceutical sectors.

Wine, olive oil and Italian food for HORECA and modern retail

Italian wine, olive oil, pasta, cured meats and cheese travel on pallets to importers, distributors and restaurants in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and the Mediterranean tourism regions (Costa Brava, Costa Daurada, Costa del Sol). Wine producers from Tuscany, Veneto, Piedmont, Sicily and Apulia have a stable presence in the Spanish market.

Furniture and home design from the Triveneto and Brianza

Spain is a significant market for premium Italian furniture. Companies from Brianza, the Triveneto and Le Marche ship pallets to showrooms in Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia, and around Hábitat Valencia (September), the national furniture and interior design fair.

Logistics for international trade fairs

Italian companies ship pallets to some of Europe's largest trade fairs held in Spain: Alimentaria and Hostelco in Barcelona (food and HORECA, March, biennial), Barcelona Wine Week (February), Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (telecoms, February-March), FITUR and Fruit Attraction in Madrid (tourism and fresh produce), Salón de Gourmets in Madrid (fine food) and Hábitat Valencia (furniture). For trade fairs, fixed pickup dates and a defined delivery window are critical: the scheduled pickup is part of the service.

Italian e-commerce serving Spanish customers

Italian online shops serve the Spanish market with bulky products (furniture, appliances, bicycles, sports equipment, home goods), either consolidated through distribution centres in Catalonia, Madrid or Valencia, or delivered straight to the end customer's address.

Operators shipping pallets regularly to Spain often also work with France, since the Mediterranean Corridor first runs through Provence and Languedoc before entering Spain via Catalonia.

Frequently Asked Questions - Shipping Pallets to Spain

How much does it cost to ship a pallet to Spain?

For a standard europallet (80×120 cm) prices start from €182,67, with pickup in Italy and delivery across mainland Spain already included. The price depends on the weight and dimensions of the pallet: enter the details in the order form at the top of the page and the price appears right away, even for a delivery 1,800 km away.

How many days does pallet delivery to Spain take?

Delivery generally takes around 10 working days from the pickup date. The distance between Italy and the Iberian Peninsula is significantly greater than for the other EU countries served, and the longer transit times are inherent. For shipments with hard deadlines (trade fair, season changeover, product launch), plan a few days of buffer.

Can I ship a pallet to the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Ceuta or Melilla?

To the Balearics yes: Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza are served with a dedicated price list. The Canary Islands are not, partly because of their special tax and customs status. For Ceuta and Melilla, contact us before ordering.

How should I write the delivery address in Spain?

Spain has several regional co-official languages (Catalan in Catalonia, Valencian in the Valencian Community, Basque in the Basque Country, Galician in Galicia). For addresses, the Spanish (Castilian) version is sufficient and understood by all local carriers throughout the country. For destinations in Catalonia, the Catalan spelling is also acceptable (Lleida, Girona, L'Hospitalet).

Can I ship a pallet to Spain as a private individual?

Yes. The typical case is someone relocating to Madrid, Barcelona or Valencia for work or study who ships furniture or household goods on a pallet without organising a full removal. Pickup also works at a private address, as long as the pallet is accessible for the courier.

Is customs documentation required for Spain?

No. Italy and Spain are part of the EU, and the transit through France changes nothing: no duties, no customs declaration, including for the Balearic Islands. The only document is the transport document, which you receive after payment and attach to the pallet.
