Send parcel to Armenia

How do you write an address in Armenia?

An Armenian address is built around the city, the street, the building number and the apartment number, plus a four-digit postal code. A realistic example: "Mario Rossi, Mashtots avenue 25, kv. 12, Yerevan 0002, Armenia, tel. +374 ...". Local addresses are written in the Armenian alphabet, a script of its own that resembles neither Latin nor Cyrillic, but the international label is filled in using English, with street and city transliterated. Always add a phone number with the +374 prefix, because the courier uses it to arrange delivery on the final stretch. For companies it also helps to state the company name and, when customs requires it, the recipient's local identification code. Most parcels head to Yerevan, the capital, where a large share of the country's population and economy is concentrated.

What do Italian companies ship to Armenia?

Armenia combines a solid manufacturing tradition with a young, fast-growing tech sector, which gives the market a distinctive profile. Yerevan has become a small hub for IT and electronics, while gemstone cutting and jewellery, copper and molybdenum mining and a long tradition of wine and brandy remain strong. This creates steady demand for technical components, machinery, instruments and spare parts that Italian suppliers are well placed to provide, often as single sample pieces or urgent parts to be approved before a larger order. Alongside industry there is the urban life of the capital, where a quality-minded audience appreciates Italian fashion, design, furniture and premium food. Finally, the large Armenian diaspora, closely tied to the homeland, keeps gifts and personal belongings moving to relatives and friends all year round.

Highlands, winters and Armenian Christmas: how do you pick the right time?

Armenia is a mountain country, a plateau surrounded by ranges, with Yerevan sitting at over a thousand metres above sea level, and the continental climate is something to factor in when shipping. Winters are cold and snowy, especially inland and at higher altitudes, while summer is hot and dry. Delicate or frost-sensitive contents call for proper packaging and a careful choice of season, particularly in the winter months. The local calendar matters too: Armenians celebrate Christmas on 6 January, following the tradition of the Apostolic Church, and around those dates offices and warehouses slow down, as they do during the other national holidays spread across the year. For samples tied to an event or gifts with a fixed deadline, it is worth checking the dates before shipping so you do not run into closure days.

Customs, the Eurasian Union and closed borders: how do you prepare?

Every shipment to Armenia goes through customs, and arriving with the paperwork in order makes a real difference to transit times. Commercial goods need an invoice in English with a clear description, a realistic value and HS codes, plus a certificate of origin when required and any documents specific to the product category. One useful thing to know is that Armenia belongs to the Eurasian Economic Union, the customs union it shares with Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan: this means common rules and clearance under the union's framework, with the recipient generally needing their own local identification code. Geography also plays a part, because the country is landlocked and its borders with Turkey and Azerbaijan are closed, so goods travel in transit, usually along the Georgian corridor. That makes accurate documents matter even more, since an inconsistency is paid for in days of waiting. One last tip concerns samples: writing just "samples" is not enough, it is better to specify what the parcel contains, for example "mechanical spare part for maintenance", "fabric sample for clothing" or "printed catalogue with no commercial value". An invoice completed line by line keeps the process moving and helps the recipient prepare before the goods arrive.
