Saudi Arabia: 5 answers from the National Address to the desert
What address details are actually needed for delivery?
In Saudi Arabia an address is no longer a loose description of a location. The National Address identifies each building precisely and has been mandatory since 1 January 2026. A parcel label needs the building number, street, district, city, five digit postcode and secondary number. There is also a Short Address, a compact code made up of four letters and four digits. An official example is: "RAGI2929, 2929 Rayhanah Bint Zaid, 8118, Al Arid Dist., Riyadh 13337, SAUDI ARABIA". Here, 8118 is the secondary number. Ask the recipient to send their full National Address and add a phone number with the +966 prefix. The international label can be completed in the Latin alphabet.
Riyadh in 7 days, Jeddah in 11: why can transit times vary?
With Europacco, a shipment from Italy to Saudi Arabia generally takes 7 to 11 working days. Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam are the three main logistics hubs and the most predictable destinations. But Saudi Arabia is vast: hundreds of kilometres separate the Red Sea coast, the Gulf region in the east and the central plateau. Smaller cities and locations away from the hubs need a longer final leg. The National Address removes much of the uncertainty, especially in new districts and rapidly expanding areas. Once the order has been placed on europacco.com, the shipment status can be followed along the route. This is particularly useful when the parcel leaves the regional hub for the final delivery.
Vision 2030: what do Italian companies ship to the Kingdom?
The route between Italy and Saudi Arabia is increasingly industrial. Machinery remains a major Italian export, but the large projects linked to Vision 2030 have broadened the picture: infrastructure, hospitality, furniture, lighting, marble, ceramics, water technology, components and supplies for construction sites. Riyadh concentrates corporate headquarters and new urban developments. Jeddah faces the Red Sea and its port logistics, while Dammam and Khobar serve the energy and industrial economy of the east. Italian companies therefore send samples, spare parts, technical catalogues, prototypes and materials for approval before larger deliveries follow. Premium Made in Italy goods are also gaining ground, from interiors to cosmetics, with documentation tailored to the relevant product category.
Ramadan, Eid and Hajj: when is extra lead time advisable?
The religious calendar has a stronger impact on logistics in Saudi Arabia than in many other countries. During Ramadan working hours change, and daily activity shifts towards the evening. Offices and businesses close for Eid, while millions of people travel to visit their families. In the west, the Hajj pilgrimage adds an exceptional wave of movement towards Jeddah, Mecca and Medina and makes traffic in the area much heavier. Ramadan, Eid and Hajj follow the Islamic lunar calendar and move every year. For samples needed at an event, urgent documents or supplies with a firm deadline, check the dates and allow extra time. The intense summer heat is another factor worth considering.
Saudi customs: why is the description "samples" not enough?
Saudi Arabia is outside the European Union, so every shipment goes through customs. Commercial goods need clear paperwork: an invoice, a precise description, a realistic declared value, HS codes and, where required, a certificate of origin. The recipient or their local agent should check in advance whether the product category needs specific registrations or approvals. Saudi import clearance procedures use the Fasah platform. Even a free sample should not be described simply as "samples". Be specific instead: "ceramic tile sample", "mechanical component for testing" or "printed catalogue with no commercial value". An invoice listing every item separately makes customs clearance more straightforward and allows the recipient to prepare before the parcel arrives.
