Dubai has no postcode: how should the address be written?

The United Arab Emirates does not use postcodes in the way many European countries do. A parcel to Dubai or Abu Dhabi needs more practical details instead: recipient name, P.O. Box if available, building, flat or office number, street or area, emirate and a local phone number with the +971 prefix. A realistic example is: "Marco Rossi, Apartment 1804, Marina Gate Tower 1, Dubai Marina, Dubai, UAE, tel. +971 ...". For a business address, always add the company name and its P.O. Box where applicable. English is the most practical choice for an international label. Do not make up a postcode: in the Emirates the building, area and phone number are what matter.

Why do so many Italian samples end up in Dubai?

Is shipping to Dubai faster than reaching Fujairah?

Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah handle most arrivals and have the densest delivery networks. Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah are also well connected. Fujairah on the east coast and locations further away from the major centres may need a slightly longer final leg. Distance is not the only factor. In a country made up of seven emirates, a precise address is particularly important. Building name, area and recipient phone number help avoid unnecessary detours during the last part of delivery.

Ramadan, Eid and summer heat: when is extra lead time advisable?

The Islamic calendar affects the rhythm of offices, warehouses and businesses across the Emirates. Working hours may be shorter during Ramadan. Many companies close for Eid, and deliveries can slow down as well. The dates follow the lunar calendar and move every year, so check them before sending samples for an exhibition or gifts needed by a particular day. Climate is another factor. Temperatures climb sharply in the hottest months, including during transfers and storage. Heat-sensitive contents need suitable packaging and careful timing. For ordinary shipments of documents, clothes or non-perishable samples, the heat does not change the process, but it is still worth taking into account.

Free zone or final customer: what changes at customs?

The United Arab Emirates is outside the European Union, so shipments go through customs. Commercial goods need an English invoice with a precise description, realistic value and HS codes, plus any documents required for the relevant product category. The Emirates have a distinctive feature: their free zones. Goods stored for re-export follow a different route from supplies sold on the domestic market. Before shipping, clarify with the recipient whether the parcel is arriving in Dubai as a sample, a delivery for a final customer or stock destined for a free zone. Some categories require specific approvals. A generic entry such as "samples" is not enough. Describe the contents of each parcel as accurately as possible.
