BOLIVIA
What stands out is what is missing: the postal code. Bolivia never introduced one, so the field simply stays empty and nobody minds. What counts instead is the street, the house number and above all the zona, the neighbourhood Bolivians mention in every set of directions: Sopocachi, Miraflores, Equipetrol. Ask the recipient for a phone number too, as local couriers use it to arrange the delivery. The rest is the usual routine: online form, payment, transport document to print.

Shipping time to Bolivia
Transit to Bolivia takes 9 to 12 working days. Air freight lands at Viru Viru near Santa Cruz or at El Alto above La Paz, and from there geography sets the pace of the domestic leg. The Aduana Nacional keeps a close eye on incoming shipments. In February, Carnival, led by the famous celebration in Oruro, brings the country to a standstill for almost a week: if your parcel needs to arrive around that time, ship early.
Frequently asked questions about shipping to Bolivia
Bolivia has no postal codes: how do I fill in the order?
Enter the recipient's street, house number, zona and city. The zona is the key reference for Bolivian couriers, far more than any code. Add the recipient's phone number: it is used to coordinate the delivery.
Do you deliver to El Alto, Oruro and Potosí?
Yes, the service covers all of Bolivia, including the cities of the high plateau above 3,500 metres. The price is the same as for La Paz or Santa Cruz, only the domestic leg may take a few extra days.
Do you ship supplies for missions and volunteer projects in Bolivia?
Yes, it is a recurring request: many Italian organisations are active in the country and receive teaching materials, clothing and equipment. Declare the content and value precisely and prepare a proforma invoice, as Bolivian customs requires one even for donations.
Customs information for Bolivia
Shipments to Bolivia require customs clearance and are subject to import duties and taxes. europacco.com prepares the export documents, while the recipient must cooperate with the local customs office for the import process.
Required documents: commercial or proforma invoice, declaration of free export, and a copy of the sender’s ID. Accurate documentation speeds up clearance and helps prevent the shipment from being held.
Duties in Bolivia depend on the declared value and the type of goods. To learn more about how to correctly complete customs documents and specific national rules, see our customs information guide.
